Provide high-purity water with a constant conductance of less than 0.1 µS/cm and a TOC of less than 0.5 ppm.
The task at Greatbatch was to provide high-purity water with a constant conductivity of less than 0.1 µS/cm and a TOC of less than 0.5 ppm. In addition, a low-water process should be selected that enables “inline disinfection”. Interventions in the closed water cycle, such as changing filters, were rejected. Standard components such as activated carbon, adsorbers or mixed-bed ion exchangers and particle filters could therefore not be included in the planning, as they have to be replaced after saturation with particles.
EnviroFALK designed a system solution made entirely of PVDF, consisting of permeate-staged reverse osmosis, modern EDI technology, ozonization and UV sterilization. The water treatment system continuously produces demineralized water of a consistently high quality. To reduce the bacterial count (CFU) and endotoxins, the water is permanently looped.
